Phishing/Malware Emails

Equifax Corporate Security has received notice that customers and other individuals have received fraudulent emails claiming to be from Equifax.  Some of the emails claim to be from Equifax employees while others are from a non-Equifax email address.  The emails vary in form and content but contain an attachment described as either a requested credit report or a loan application.

It has been determined that these attachments contain malware.  These emails are not from Equifax.  Equifax does not send credit reports via email and would not send or request a loan application from consumers or businesses.  If you receive these emails, please do not open the attachment and delete the email.  If you have opened the attachment, please immediately obtain assistance from an anti-virus company or your company technical support team.
